Maria Hernández Bracho, aka Maru

Born on Christmas day 1954 in Caracas, Venezuela. Works and lives in Perçy, lower Normandy, France.

French and Venezuelan Visual Artist. Bronze and Glass Fine Art Sculptor.

Member of the Ateliers des Artistes, the Ateliers d’Arts de France, M.A.D.E. France and Carré des Artistes.

1954 : Maru was born on Christmas Day, December 25th

1958 : First drawings and paintings

1963 : Travel to the Bolívar state and visit of the Llovizna falls, a waterfall on the Caroní River, close to its confluence with the Orinoco, located in the Llovizna Park, Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela.

1964 : Travel to the Monagas state and visit of the Cueva del Guácharo, the first Monument declared National Monument in Venezuela on 1949. Located north of Monagas, it’s excavated in sedimentary rocks that originated 130 million years ago.

1966 : Travel to the Mérida state and visit of the Paramos and Pico Bolívar

1960 - 1967 : Primary Education at the Instituto de Educación Integral in Caracas, Venezuela.

1960 - 1967 : Maru spent every Sunday of her childhood in the workshop of the famous Venezuelan painter César Rengifo

1967 : 6th grade diploma of the Instituto de Educación Integral in Caracas, Venezuela.

1968 : Travel to Mexico and visit of the Teotihuacan  pyramids

1969 : Travel to Chile and Peru, visit f the Machu Picchu

1967-1970 : Secondary education, basic cycle at the Liceo Carlos Soubletta in Caracas, Venezuela.

1971 : Travel 1 year to Europe in The Normandie boat, visit of the Porto island, Londres, Amsterdam, Bruges, Bruxelles, Paris, Madrid.

1971-1973 : Secondary education, diversified cycle, Humanities Emphasis at the Liceo Virgilio in Caracas, Venezuela.

1973 : High School Diploma, Humanities Emphasis of the Liceo Virgilio in Caracas, Venezuela.

1973-1976 : Master degree in Fine Arts of the Instituto Pedagógico in Caracas, Venezuela.

1976: Vocational course in Enamels on metal at the University Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela.

1977 : Vocational training in Sculpture specialization at the Cristal Rojas School in Caracas, Venezuela.

1977-1979: Assistant as an observer in the workshop of the famous Venezuelan painter César Rengifo

1977-1980 : Large-format Commissioned Paintings and Enamels (6.6 ft x 9.8 ft // 2 m x 3 m) for the German Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela.

1981: Vocational training in Mask making at the Instituto Celcit in Caracas, Venezuela.

1981-1985 : Master degree diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in Fire Arts, of the Ecole Nationale d'Arts Décoratifs in Limoges France.

1985 - 1986 : Post-graduate diploma in Fire Arts of he Ecole Nationale d'Arts Décoratifs in Limoges France.

2002 : Started working with recycled glass bottles in her Eure’s studio.

2005 : 1st Tree of life sculpture 2 meters high / 6.56 ft

2010 : New studio in Normandy, France.

2011 : 1st Teepee sculpture 3 meters high / 9.84 ft

2013 : 1st watercolors panel, large format 78.75 x 23.62 in / 200 x 60 cm
